Find a Genetic Counselor

Posted OnJune 13, 2024 byPriscilla Kennedy

To find a genetic counselor in your area, you can visit the National Society of Genetic Counselor’s website. The Find a Genetic Counselor directory offers access to over 3,300 genetic counselors (US and Canada). You have options for in-person or telehealth counseling.

It is best to get tested for BRCA through your doctor so that you have access to a genetic counselor. However, you can purchase a genetic test on your own through a direct-to-consumer resource. Color offers one of the most accessible, clinical-grade genetic testing services available today, analyzing genes associated with risk for common cancers and heart conditions — and how the body may process certain medications.
